Town Hall
Veteran's Town Hall meeting rescheduled for February 
The Veteran’s Town Hall meeting originally planned for January 23 has been postponed until February 27. This town hall meeting is primarily for Veterans living in the Orangeburg area. The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Orangeburg County Council Chamber at 1437 Amelia Street in Orangeburg.

Fellow Vets, community bring holiday cheer to Dorn 
The Wm. Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center hosted the 17th Annual Vet's Charity Ride Dec. 10, 2017. Cold temperatures did not deter the riders of more than 1,500 motorcycles bearing gifts and Christmas cards for Veterans.

New EO helps Vets transition active duty to civilian life
President Donald J. Trump recently signed an executive order titled, “Supporting Our Veterans During Their Transition From Uniformed Service to Civilian Life.” This executive order directs the Departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security to develop a plan to ensure that all new Veterans receive mental health care for at least one year following their separation from service.

VA to take immediate action on timely payments to providers
VA announced a series of immediate actions to improve the timeliness of payments to community providers. The actions will address the issue of delayed payments head-on and produce sustainable fixes that solve ongoing payment issues that affect Veterans, community providers and other VA partners.

VA seeks artist to design National Veteran's Day poster
The 2018 National Veterans Day Poster Contest is underway. Each year the Veterans Day National Committee publishes a commemorative Veterans Day poster. The poster is selected from artwork submitted by artists nationwide and is distributed to VA facilities, military installations around the world across cities and town in our nation. 

Applications accepted for National Veterans Wheelchair games
The Department of Veterans Affairs is accepting applications for the 2018 National Veterans Wheelchair Games. Registration began January 2 and will close April 15, 2018. Applications can be completed online at www.wheelchairgames.org. The 2018 National Veterans Wheelchair Games will take place in Orlando, Florida from July 30 – Aug 4.
