Dorn VAMC assists with evacuation (Update 1)

COLUMBIA, South Carolina (Oct. 6, 2016) – The Wm. Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center received 24 Veteran patients yesterday from the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston as they evacuated South Carolina’s coastal region in response to Hurricane Matthew approaching.
Dorn VAMC is expecting to receive three more Veteran patients today from Charleston VA medical center. In addition, to the 27 Veteran patients, Charleston VAMC also sent two registered nurses, two technicians, and one physician to help care for the displaced Veteran patients.
Charleston’s Veteran patients were also evacuated to VA medical centers in Georgia (Augusta and Dublin) yesterday.
As for the Dorn VAMC, all clinics and appointments will continue as scheduled. Veterans should call their primary care providers if they have questions or concerns during this time.
