Annual Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program
What: Operation Stand Down 2016 is one part of the Department of Veterans Affairs’ efforts to provide services to homeless Veterans and those at risk who experienced major loss during the recent storms and flooding.
When: November 4, 2016, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Who: VA and Community Partners for the Homeless Veterans and Civilian Population in the Midlands.
Where: Midlands Housing Alliance, 2025 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201
Why: Stand Downs are collaborative events, coordinated between local VAs, other government agencies, and community agencies who serve the homeless.
How: Stand Downs typically provide the following services to homeless individuals: food, shelter, clothing, health screenings, VA and Social Security benefits counseling, and referrals to a variety of other necessary services, such as housing, employment and substance abuse treatment.
