Dorn VA Medical Center Celebrates National Nurses Week May 6-12, 2017

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the nation’s largest single employer of nurses, joins the American Nurses Association (ANA) in honoring America’s nurses dedicated to saving lives and maintaining the health of millions of individuals, including our nation’s heroes, during National Nurses Week, May 6-12, 2017

ANA has designated 2017 as the “Year of the Healthy Nurse”. The theme for this year is “Nursing: the Balance of Mind, Body, and Spirit”, celebrating nurses who lead the charge for health and wellness.

Annually, National Nurses Week begins on May 6, marked as Nurse Recognition Day, and ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing as a modern profession. During this week, nurses at the William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center, located at 6439 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC 29209, will be honored with Blessing of the Hands ceremonies, guest speakers, talent and fashion show, receptions, and other hospital events, as noted in the attached agenda.

For more information or should you wish to witness and attend any of the scheduled events here at Dorn VA Medical Center, please contact the Public Affairs Office at 803.776.4000, ext. 6519 or email vhacmsdornpa@va.gov.
