Vets Christmas Charity Ride approaches for local Veterans
What is by far the largest motorcycle ride in the state of South Carolina will be approaching the William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center, Sunday, Dec. 9 in Columbia, S.C.
Hopes are for the public to bring the cheer of the season to the Veterans at the Dorn VAMC in the form of much needed and essential items such as socks, gloves, blankets, sweat shirts, underwear, non-skid slippers, toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, backpacks, cash donations and more.
Participating in the largest motorcycle ride for the state of South Carolina, thousands of riders from all over the United States will bring these needed items to the Veterans. However, even those who do not ride a motorcycle are welcome to witness the cyclists ride in to the medical center while enjoying the music, free food, and camaraderie among all those present, especially the hospitalized Veterans.
Most hospitalized Veterans will not get a single card this year and you have the power to change that. Individuals, businesses, churches, or school can participate by providing holiday cards. This will ensure that each Veteran will get a card throughout the holiday season. Persons may bring the cards with them or mail them to: Columbia VA Health Care System, ATTN: Voluntary Services, Public Affairs Office, 6439 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, S.C. 29209.
