Dr. Gardner received his undergraduate degree from Oregon State University and received his Doctor of Optometrydegree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He has worked with the Veterans Administration since 2003 following the completion of his residency training at the Dorn VA Medical Center.
Dr. Gardner currently holds adjunct faculty status with three colleges and has previously served as the student program supervisor. Dr. Gardner is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and is working on his diplomate in vitreo-retinal disease. Dr. Gardner has completed the NBEO's Advanced Competency in Medical Optometry .
Christian W. Jordan, O.D., F.A.A.O. - Student Externship Coordinator
Dr. Jordan grew up in the suburbs of New Jersey. He graduated from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania with a degree in biology, and he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry. After completion of his residency in 2007 at Dorn VA Medical Center, he joined the team of full-time staff there. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and also works part time in multiple private practices throughout South Carolina.
Dr. Jordan serves as Student Externship Coordinator at Dorn, and is also adjunct faculty with Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Southern College of Optometry, and Ferris State College of Optometry in Michigan, Indiana College of Optometry, and NOVA Southeastern.
In his leisure, Dr. Jordan enjoys competitive sports, running, working out, and football (die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan).
W. Jeff McGill, O.D., F.A.A.O. - Staff Optometrist
Dr. McGill graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received his Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. After varied private practice experiences in rural and urban areas of North Carolina, Dr. McGill served as a commissioned officer with the Indian Health Service (IHS). Experiences with the IHS involved full scope primary eye care to the Navajo population, serving as adjunct faculty for optometry students, and lectures to fellow OD’s as well as hospital physicians. He joined the Dorn VAMC in 1994.
Dr. McGill currently serves as Chief of Optometry for Dorn VAMC. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and has several published works in refereed journals. Dr. McGill has also submitted many posters on ocular disease topics with SECO International. He has lectured to the Columbia area (Midlands) Optometric Society and SC Optometric Summer Conference on various eye care topics. Dr. McGill regularly participates in weekly Grand Rounds eye conferences at Dorn VAMC, lecturing to optometry staff, residents, and students on various eye-related topics. Dr. McGill has twice traveled to Haiti for eye care mission trips.
